My Podcasting Experience
I think learning and practicing Podcasting seems easy for me from the beginning. I really like Audacity that allows us to record and convert a file as .mp3 type. So we can post it as podcasting as we wish. Podcasting can be used as the online course introduction. Or an instructor can set up an area that allows the students to upload podcasting with the information about student themselves. Before producing any podcast make sure you know who is your audience, how long the information you want to present, what other component you need to add, such as a little music as background, and the content of your script. The length of an podcasting is very important. Too long podcast could make listeners lose their interests. Too short podcast could be hard to deliver information as needed. So the length of a podcast is suggested within 5 minutes or less. If your podcasting is too long you can break the whole file into individual sessions or chapters.

US DLA Conference
Dear colleagues --
I am now in St. Louis attending US Distance Learning Association conference. This is my first time in this city. I went to top of the famous Arch which is about 600 feet high. It was quite breathtaking view from the top of the Arch. I could not image how the people built this monument a long time ago with the basic technology.
The conference is so far very well. To me, I think the big challenge for the educators is how to prepare our kids to learn. In the near future school system and the way to learn may changes dramatically than anyone could anticipate. Technology has been playing an important role in teaching and learning. How could we do and what information we need to learn first in order to teach our students? I am sure this conference will give me some answers.

Why do the instructors feel reluctant using audio while designing their online courses?

Last week, i was in Galveston attending TxDLA (Texas Distance Learning Association Conference). It was a great conference. You can meet the people from different areas, such as Higher Ed., K-12, Military, Government. We shared the information using technology for teaching, learning and training. No matter what method has been used we need to focus on the learning outcomes and it is the ultimate goal for educators to keep in mind. And I also found social networking seems as a very popular topic in the conference. And to do that, Blog, Second Life, Face Book, and Wiki have been discussed in different sessions.

Create a banner using PowerPoint

When I took a graphic design course for my master degree I learned using Firework or PhotoShop Image Ready to make a web banner or graphic. But when I was making this banner through PowerPoint I think it is easier to start with creating a simple banner without going through some learning curves. I think our instructors would like to use this tool to make some banners for their courses that have been set up in Vista. Most courses in Vista have no banner or even text to display a course title. When the students access a course they have no idea if they are in the right course. Now there is a simply way to make a course banner. I think it can encourage our instructors to learn it and use it.
